Jessica Simpson Said She May Never Get Back to Her Skinny Jeans After 100 Pound Weight Loss, But That’s Okay

On September 24, Jessica Simpson took to Instagram to share that she has been able to lose over 100 pounds since giving birth to her third child, Birdie Mae, six months ago.

The singer and fashion designer admitted that just before giving birth to Birdie she “tipped the scales” at around 240 pounds.

She wrote:

6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240). My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.

Now, despite being proud of herself for getting back to her pre-Birdie weight, Simpson is opening up about her postpartum journey so far.

While selling some of the items from her most recent clothing line on HSN, Simpson said she thought she learned her lesson and didn’t plan on gaining as much weight as she did during her pregnancy with Birdie:

“When you’re pregnant, I gain a lot, I mean, a lot. I didn’t expect to gain as much with my third. I thought I’d learned my lesson, but apparently, that’s just the way God made me, very hungry and pregnant.”

She continued:

“It’s been a lot of hard work, I’ve been working very hard.”

The mom of three also added some words to wisdom for other mom’s trying to get back into shape after welcoming a child into the world.

Simpson said your body changes, but there’s nothing wrong with that:

“I don’t think I’ll ever get back to [my skinny jeans]. I save them and say, ‘One day.’ But after having kids, I don’t think that your hips really ever go completely back. Your body changes!”

Since getting pregnant with Birdie, the 38-year-old has been open and honest about her journey and all the highs and lows that came with it.

Many of her fans said that they “love [Simpson’s] honesty,” adding, “You’re such a positive role model for mamas and women.”
