Country music star Carrie Underwood now has two beautiful children with her husband, Mike Fisher, but she says it was a long road to get there.
After welcoming her first son, Isaiah Fisher, in 2015, she and her husband tried hard to have a second child.
Then a series of three miscarriages dampened their hopes, Carrie told People:
“Of course you wonder if it’s you, what am I doing wrong, or what have I done wrong. I remember having conversations with Mike trying to make sense of it all.”
Underwood said she tried to stay strong and appreciate what she already had in life. She explained:
“I’ve always wanted to be a good daughter to my parents but also to God and not complain, because we are beyond blessed. I get to do what I love, I have an incredible family. I have Mike, I have Isaiah, I have great parents. I have all of these amazing people around me, and I don’t want to complain, ever.”
Though the “Cry Pretty” singer tried to stay positive, she was ready to accept that a second child might not have been possible. Underwood added:
“But the miscarriages made me get real with God and say, ‘Okay, I’m kind of giving up a little bit. If this isn’t meant to happen, then I need to accept that and know that someday I’ll understand why.’”
But soon, the songstress became pregnant with their “miracle baby,” Jacob Bryan Fisher. He was born happy and healthy in January.
“We heard that everything was okay and I was pregnant with Jacob. He’s just this perfect little bundle of a smiley guy.”
The new mom is currently on her Cry Pretty 360 Tour while trying to care for her 4-month-old. But now that she’s a mother of two, Underwood says this isn’t her “first rodeo.”
There’s no word yet if the couple plans to have more children in the future.
